A mail train was slightly damaged after an explosion occurred on a railway track in Pakistan's southwest Balochistan province on Thursday, an official said.
The train Bolan Mail left the station at 12:02 p.m. local time (0702 GMT), and the blast was reported verbally by the train driver at about 12:25 p.m. local time to the authorities, Muhammad Kashif, public relations officer of the Quetta Railway divisional superintendent, told Xinhua.
"Following an inspection by the train driver and security escort, the train departed at 12:35 p.m. local time," he added.
In a precautionary move, a passenger train, which was also heading to the explosion site, was halted by security forces until security clearance of the area, the official added.
No group has claimed responsibility for the attack yet.
Balochistan has witnessed a surge in terrorist attacks in recent years, with militants frequently targeting railway tracks and other transport infrastructure in the province. Authorities have launched investigations to determine the nature of the blast and identify those responsible.
